Another innovative project in a FLE secondary school: the first classroom in a solar greenhouse in Canada!

After two years of construction, the Maisonneuve family — left to right Carl, Marc, Mary Lou, Paul and Elyse — stand in front of Gisèle Lalonde high school's first solar greenhouse classroom. Since eight-year-old Karyne Maisonneuve passed away in 2006, the family has dedicated their time to build sustainable energy projects at the school, where their children attend.
On May 23rd 2012, le Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO), l’école secondaire publique Gisèle-Lalonde in Ottawa and the Maisonneuve family inaugurated the very first classroom in Canada built in a solar greenhouse. This unique classroom is part of “Projet Karyne“, a set of initiatives related to renewable energy.
